Entry registration is closed.




A) Anyone may enter beer for judging. Entries MUST be referred to by BJCP category number and subcategory letter or they will not be judged. Please refer to official BJCP style guidelines for category designations and descriptions. This is very important!

B) Commercially brewed beers are ineligible for this competition, as are beers that were brewed on commercial equipment or property, or brew-on-premise locations.

C) All BJCP categories (Cat. 1-34 for Beer, Cat. M1-M4 for Mead, Cat. C1-C2 for Cider & Perry) are open for entries. Entries will be judged based on BJCP 2015 Style Guidelines. Refer to the 2015 Style Guidelines for Beer, Mead & Cider for category characteristics.


A) Registration and entries will be accepted in person or by mail beginning May 15, 2017, and will close at the end of the business day on May 26, 2017. Walk-in entries after the deadline will be accepted at the Organizer’s discretion. Entries will be accepted by mail or in person at: Mills Hardware (see page 1 for location info).

B) If you are mailing your entry, please remember to pack each bottle with adequate packing material. We strongly encourage the use of bubble wrap, and wrapping each entry in a plastic bag in case of breakage in transit. We know this sounds like a lot, but trust us: beers inevitably break during transport, which in some cases can and have destroyed the labels of other beer entries too, rendering them unidentifiable and subsequently disqualified. Broken or damaged entries WILL be disqualified. Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have been broken to make arrangements for replacement bottles.

A) Awards and medals will be given for first-, second-, and third-place winners in each category judged.

B) First place winners in each category may advance to a Best of Show (BOS) round with a single BOS winner.

C) Prizes will be given as available. We cordially invite you to attend the Because Beer Craft Beer Festival where we will be live announcing winners of the competition on July 14, 2017, at 7pm sharp, while you enjoy your favourite craft beers, excellent food, exciting guest speakers, and live entertainment. Winners will be announced online within 48 hours of the awards ceremony. Score sheets and judges’ comments will be returned to all entrants via email. Any prizes not claimed at the Because Beer Craft Beer Festival will be sent out by mail or through alternate arrangements.
